The 2019 Season Kicks Off!

The 2019 competition season has begun here at Werakata Farm.
We kicked off with Hunter Trials, some dressage and show-jumping to knock the rust off before our first event at SIEC in a couple of weeks.

The Equestriad hunter trials was a great outing for Judge, Peter and Leroy who all cruised around the excellent course at Camden. This exciting bunch of Thoroughbreds could have easily gone around the course again but perhaps not the jockey who enjoyed all the trappings of the festive season!

Next stop was Alexander Park Dressage. Andrew attended on the Saturday which is the t-shirt day with Bradgate Park Galileo who put his perfect foot forward to win both elementary tests. Leroy the newest addition to the team a 9yo t/b with approx 40 odd starts was super settled and did two solid tests and placed in both classes. Cause for applause stepped up to novice and was extremely consistent to place in both tests.
On the official day on Sunday, Tarsha and Bradgate Park Dolce survived the Elementary and Taylor and the lovely Tuna finally(!!!!) tackled the medium tests and did so with aplomb.

Final stop was The Riders Series at SIEC for a showjumping tune up. A lovely relaxed feel in a great venue with fantastic courses helped the horses improve as the day went on with some good clear rounds. Go Tosca finishing well to place 2nd in the 1.10m.

Since Mitavite and Hygain have joined forces we have enjoyed experimenting with some new products. We are really impressed with the response from the horses to the Hyaglide joint supplement which come in a convenient gel form and smells good enough to eat!

We are excited to start the eventing season and hope 2019 is a safe and sound one for all. See you at SIEC 🙂
